This charming seaside town in Pas-de-Calais was the first such resort on the Opal Coast. Its magnificent seafront boasts a long seawall promenade for lovely walks in the fresh air. But Wimereux is also remarkable for its many Anglo-Norman-style houses from the Belle Époque, their elegant façades adorned with frescoes.

People above all come to Wimereux for a restful environment, which makes it an ideal destination for families. There is fun and relaxation for all on the sand and pebble beach, featuring cute huts painted blue, and various water sports like kitesurfing and windsurfing are also available. Art-lovers, meanwhile, will enjoy strolling from one gallery to another, and golfers will be very happy with the 18-hole course.

On the outskirts of Wimereux, the wild beach of La Pointe aux Oies, lined with dunes, offers a scenic view of Ambleteuse and its fort. As for the Regional Nature Park of the Opal Capes and Marshes, it offers pleasant walks for hikers and lovers of the great outdoors.

Additional information
Wimereux

Commune des Hauts-de-France, Wimereux is located in the department of Pas-de-Calais, on the border of Boulogne-sur-Mer. Turned towards the Channel Sea, this seaside resort is the oldest of the Opal Coast. It takes place some thirty kilometers from Calais, not far from England.

The old Wimille had its main development in the 19th century with the arrival of the railway. It was also at this time that Wimereux became an attractive seaside resort, gradually unveiling a new architectural face turned towards the style typical of the Belle Epoque.

Today, the residential suburb of Boulogne-sur-Mer, the home of Charles de Gaulle's holiday with his family, has retained a real attraction for visitors. Classified as a Tourist Station, it offers the best facilities and a wide range of entertainment.

Things to see and do

365 days a year, discover Wimereux with complete freedom. The history of the villas, the famous characters, the architectural details... The association Valorisons Wimereux has installed on the emblematic Villas of Wimereux, like that of the Mauritians, nameplates provided with QR codes which give access to all this information. Do not miss anything of this remarkable historical heritage recognized by the Ministry of Culture.

Lovers of old stones will take the direction of the prehistoric site of Pointe aux Oies, or will see Charles Belart's collections of Paleolithic tools.

Listed as a Historic Monument, the Legion of Honor monument known as Pierre Napoléon is not lacking in interest, as is the battery of the Crèche. This Napoleonic fort is currently being renovated.

The beach of Wimereux is one of the main attractions of the town and allows the practice of various water activities or to take a few walks by the sea, while admiring the beach cabins in beautiful shades of blue. The promenade is also a popular place for locals and tourists.

The resort also has a golf course with stunning views of the Channel Sea.
