In the Middle Ages, the city of Wasselonne was defended by a castle erected on the height that dominated the city. From this castle, there remains today only the entrance door, a round tower, the old residence of the bailiff and a few parts of walls of speakers. But the appearance he exhibited at the end of the seventeenth century has been preserved by several engravings, plans and descriptions of the time. The Tourist Office offers guided tours on request of the Square Tower and ramparts.
