On November 10 and 11, 1918, the last battles of the Great War were fought.
The companies of 415th R.I of the 163rd D.I crossed the Meuse on the dam located between Dom Le Mesnil and Vrigne-Meuse. Commander Charles De Menditte was at the front of his troops.
At 10:50 am, on November 11, the estafette Augustin Trebuchon fell, killed by a bullet in the front line. This is the last French soldier killed by war. Originally from Lozère, he has since resided in the military square located near the village church among 17 of his companions.
At 11 o'clock the soldier Octave Delaluque sounded the cease-fire of the armistice on the floor of the commune for the whole front line.
A total of 96 men will have fallen, 160 wounded during the last two days.
