Viriat

Listed historic monument, Castle Fleyriat was built in the second half of the nineteenth century by Edward Corroyer former student of Viollet-le-Duc. The site is open to the public on guided tours between July and October and for Heritage Days.

The church was rebuilt in the early nineteenth century, revealing an interior inspired by the neoclassical style. The apse and two chapels, dating from the fifteenth century, are for their Gothic.

Walking through the old center, we find the ruins of the fortified house Roux, or the mansion Gélière, rebuilt in the late fifteenth century.

Green spaces abound on Viriat, including three ponds, one Goal, one of Gonnets, and the Willow. They were classified area of ​​ecological interest, flora and fauna, like the wood of Grand Champs.

The DTK festival, In your Kulte, takes place every year in June. The event offers mostly rap concerts.

Viriat is unusual, since the late nineteenth century, not to celebrate the national holiday on July 14, but August 1st. For the occasion, a dance, fireworks and a torchlight are organized.

In early August, the gourmand is a tour combining sport and gastronomy, with gourmet stops along the route.

In August, up to the hunting party including a petanque competition, a meal, a mass and various animations.
