Things to see and do

The stately home of Villemomble: The stately home of Villemomble was built in the 18th century. Its beautiful façade, designed by Brongniart, surmounted by a pediment head of Diana, elegantly adorn the city center. This domain was purchased in 1767 by Duke Philip of Orleans to his girlfriend Mary Perine Etiennette Marquis became Lady Villemomble. She remained there until 1795. In 1875, the last owner, Julie Outrebon born Papin, donated to the town in order to install the municipality. It is now the artistic and cultural activities of the city who have invested the scene. The public will discover in the basement and a lapidary museum on the ground floor showrooms.

The Church of St. Louis: This church is a beautiful and interesting example of industrial architecture adapted to sacred architecture. In fact, the architect did not hesitate to make use of relatively new materials in sacred art as cast iron and he hid out under a cloak of millstone, pierced with many windows. The whole gives great clarity and great lightness to the building. "The nave and aisles, separated by slender cast iron columns are covered with a wooden ceiling supported by transverse arches also cast. Until 1926, the main entrance was a porch formed by four large stone pillars and the arches. " But this construction was costly and there was enough money to erect the tower! For twenty-five years, parishioners will go without. It is the initiative of Father Bernard Klein, pastor of St. Louis, it was constructed.

The tower: On the porch, Paul Tournon (1881-1964), an architect must in religious buildings, authorized the archbishop raised, from March 1926 to April 1927, a tower in concrete frame with filling brick and millstone, about fifty meters high and crowned by a group of statues carved in stone by the sculptor Carlo Sarrabezolles (1888-1971).
