Museum of Art and History of Villefranche-sur-Mer

Leisure centre in Villefranche-sur-Mer

Located in the heart of the 16th century citadel listed as a Historic Monument, the Villefranche-sur-Mer art and history museum is an opportunity to introduce visitors to archaeological and art collections.

The bastioned fortress built for the Duke of Savoy Emmanuel-Philibert with the aim of serving as a sentinel at the harbour, was entirely restored at the end of the 1970s. Temporarily closed to the public, the museum of art and history of Villefranche-sur-Mer offers, in addition to its collections of ceramics, modern and contemporary art, decorative arts and fine arts, several thematic temporary exhibitions, as well as workshops for young and old.
