Villars in France: Villars is one of 36,000 communes in France. A 45 ° 28 North latitude and 4 ° East 21 'of longitude, it has the advantage of being located only two hours of the first alpine resorts and three hours from the Mediterranean Sea.

Villars: Covering an area of 570 hectares, has 8,062 inhabitants Villars partial census of population conducted by INSEE in 2006. Its inhabitants are called the Villardaires.

Heritage:

The Old Castle: Home of the fief of strong Curnieu, Old Castle still stands today near Montravel. Fully restored, it is now used for residential purposes. Of the old fort, the only remaining tower and a remnant of the old watchtower.
The Château du Bourg and the former St. Andrew's Church: The Château du Bourg was the home of the family of Mathevon Curnieu. Now, after being fully renovated while retaining the character of the building, it houses the Town Hall. The Chapel of St. Andrew, the first church Villars, this castle was built against. For 20 years, will serve as a local school, then sits on the Miners' Union before becoming property of the Mining Company. In 1998, she was completely restored, together with the adjacent Town Hall. Today it serves as the Municipal Council Chamber and Weddings.
The Church of St. Lawrence Church St. Lawrence is the second and present church Villars. It emerges from the ground in 1862 but its bell tower, a height of 48 meters, was not finished until 1870. It was only in 1936, the municipality Soulier, were installed as the 3 bells you hear ringing. They give respectively the middle, the floor and do. In 2004, following extensive cracks found in the pillars, the municipality Pouquet Hubert decided to close the church had become too dangerous to the public. The damage is mainly due to moisture and require major rehabilitation work. The project will last throughout 2006. In December 2006, Villars inaugurates its "new" church whose structure has been completely redone and the interior pillars removed.

Sports equipment: Villars has two gyms, allowing the practice of multiple sports (basketball, volleyball, handball, bodybuilding, gym, table tennis, climbing, badminton ...), 3 football pitches (one grass, a synthetic and a stabilized), to a dojo, seven tennis courts (2 indoor and 5 outdoor), of a mini-golf, a fitness trail and a kart track. Land for bowling and squares with games for children are also present on the town.
Media: The Library of Villars opened in December 2004. In modern architecture, the Mediatheque Villars mixes the "design" and functionality, space and light, traditional works and new communication media. True temple of culture and knowledge, the Mediatheque Villars loan offers a broad cultural background made up of traditional documents and records from new technologies.

Supports available to loan. Organized into two sectors, youth and adults, the Media Centre offers the loan of books, comics, magazines, periodicals, documentaries, DVDs, CDs and CD Roms.
Multimedia area: The Library offers courses in basic computing (word processing, internet ...) and allows the registration of free Internet access for its subscribers. Color prints and black & white are also possible.
Story Time: 3 times a month, volunteers from the Media organized by age group, a "Tale of Time" for children (free admission).

Market: every Thursday morning - Place Gambetta.
Youth Employment Forum (April): organized by the City Hall of Villars, this forum proposes to connect local companies or associations that hire and young people from 18 to 25 years. Summer jobs, sandwich courses, fixed-term contracts, permanent jobs... all the job offers are published upstream on the website of the Town Hall.
"Villars en Fête" (end of June): organized by the Town Hall of Villars and the Festival Committee, this festive and entertaining event offers games for children and adults, entertainment, children's singing contest and a dance show dinner in outside. A beautiful village party welcoming and warm!
The Forum of the Associations (September): organized by the City Hall and the associations of Villars, this forum allows the inhabitants to have a glimpse on a day of almost all the activities that it is possible to practice at Villars. Information stands, demonstrations, possibility of testing and registration...
Music'à Mômes (October): the Media Library Villars organizes every two years a show for children almost free (the show is offered by the municipality, only 1 € donated to the Telethon is requested to each viewer) by bringing a musical artist young audience.
Salon "Chocolate in all its forms!" (November): organized by the Festival Committee, this chocolate fair brings together around thirty chocolate-makers and other exhibitors on the theme of chocolate for a gourmet weekend. The opportunity to be tempted a little before the holiday season.
The telethon (December): for several years, the municipality, the Festival Committee and many villardaires associations are mobilizing by organizing many activities to raise funds to fight against myopathies.
"Animations de Noël": organized by the Town Hall of Villars and the Festival Committee, these activities are free. Come take a carriage ride with Santa Claus, listen to the limonaire, go pedaling, play wooden games. You may even be able to watch a surprise show!
