The Saint-Pierre lapidary museum of Vienne, has taken place since 1876 in one of the oldest churches in France. Remodeled in the 12th century, it still reveals its original structure as well as its basilica plan.
On site, visitors will be able to discover pieces from the Gallo-Roman period such as ancient sarcophagi, amphoras or domestic and funerary decorum. The collections of the Saint-Pierre lapidary museum are thus presented in the nave and in the Notre-Dame chapel, as well as under the bell tower and around the church. Sculptures, sculpted fragments of architecture, mosaics and lapidary inscriptions are thus visible.
Visitors can also admire medieval remains, including the sarcophagus of Saint Mamert.
