Nestling in a verdant setting, Lake Léon invites you to relax and recuperate. A peaceful and restful place, great for fishing, a canoe-kayak trip, a relaxing spell on the beach or a walk along its shady banks...
It is at Lake Léon that the River Huchet begins its journey towards the Atlantic coast. A real umbilical cord between lake and ocean, this little coastal river and its surrounding marshes are listed as a National Nature Reserve. This is wild and magnificent country, where remarkable flora and fauna have evolved... Nicknamed the Landes Amazon, this protected land, both lush and mysterious, is best explored at a leisurely pace, along a forest path starting at the Pichelèbe bridge, or taking a trip in a traditional boat, which will bring you to the mouth of the River Huchet at Moliets-et-Maa beach.
The House of the Reserve (Maison de la Réserve) on the edge of Lake Léon has a permanent exhibition of the natural heritage of the reserve, and throughout the year organises guided walking tours and themed outings.
