Located in the middle of the bay of Mont Saint-Michel, Pontorson is a city crossing the Couesnon (one of the three rivers of the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel)
Pontorson is crossed by the Couesnon and nearly 10 km of marsh area to the south and 4,800 hectares of polders.
Pontorson and township enjoying a temperate oceanic climate and are protected by the bay of Mont Saint-Michel.
Its surrounding communities are: Huisnes-sur-Mer, Tanis, Macey, Vessey, Aucey-la-Plaine, Sougéal, Saint-Georges-de-Gréhaigne, Beauvoir, Mont Saint-Michel.
The city was founded in the twelfth century on a vow of William the Conqueror. the important stronghold near Brittany, Pontorson fortress was razed in 1623 by order of Louis XIII. Some vestiges remain from this period as the Notre Dame, the hotel Guiscard of Ménardière or former Hotel Dieu St. Anthony of Charity.
In 1973, the town merged with Ardevon, Beauvoir, Boucey, Cormeray, Curey, Moidrey and The Pas, who kept associated municipalities status. Beauvoir has regained its independence in 1989. Located 9 km from Mont-Saint-Michel, Pontorson is the heart of the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel, on the banks of the Couesnon, the heart of future major projects that will restore her to Mt. insularity.

- For the third year running, Noura Chami-Harmel, Artisan d ? Art, is offering an introduction to the art of illumination. This initiation, more thorough and complete than in previous years, will invite participants to make colors using mineral, vegetable and animal pigments, to use ancient binders (medieval tempera, egg yolk, gum arabic and honey), to apply gold leaf on various traditional primers : garlic juice and gum ammonia, to discover shell gold, the art of line drawing and many other elements to unlock the secrets of medieval illumination. - Noura Chami-Harmel, in her constant quest for beauty, loves to work with matter, light and transparency with rigor, patience and attention to detail. It was when she was a student in khâgne that she fell in love with illuminated manuscripts. Over the years, her work has acquired the purity of color, the brilliance of gold, the intensity of characters, the finesse of line and the elegance of calligraphy that so captivated her in manuscripts. But what she wants most is to share her love of beauty and pass on her knowledge. Illumination is, as she describes it, a journey towards beauty and light that only makes sense if it is shared and passed on. - A graduate of the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (ephe-psl) and a specialist in the archaeology of contemporary conflicts, Louis Mouillac's first lecture will take us behind the front lines, to the logistical units of the American armies that crossed our region after June 06,1944. - To liberate Europe from the Nazi occupiers, the Allies developed a particularly efficient logistics organization, operating 24 hours a day to supply combatants with food, equipment, ammunition, fuel… - Often overlooked in history books and "historical" films, these shadowy soldiers were nonetheless major players in the liberation. - In this first instalment of a trilogy to follow, we take a look at some of their missions and their daily lives at the end of the Battle of Normandy, in southern Manche and Ille-et-Vilaine. - Louis Mouillac heads the Agence d ? - Jean-Marie Petitclerc, a Salesian from Don Bosco, has been working for 50 years in the service of young people in difficulty, helping each child to develop his or her talents. He will testify to the important mission of every educator, whether parent, teacher or youth worker… Talent is the fruit of a gift and the work required to nurture it. That's why every educator needs to be both a talent spotter and a support for the child, enabling him or her to bring that talent to fruition. Play, learning to reread and memorizing success are, in this respect, 3 pedagogical tools to be favored according to Don Bosco. - Jean-Marie Petitclerc A graduate of the École Polytechnique engineering school (class of '71), Jean-Marie joined the Salesians of Don Bosco after leaving school, to help young people in difficulty. - In 1978, he founded a specialized prevention club in Chanteloup-les-Vignes. - In 1984, he moved to Normandy, where he successively held the position of director of an approved adolescent home in Epron, on the outskirts of Caen, then general manager of a complex of eight establishments serving children and adolescents in difficulty. - Called back to Chanteloup at the time of the 91 urban riots, he took part in the creation in 92, on the initiative of young people from the housing estate, of the Association ? Les Messagers ?, and developed the concept of new jobs in the city (urban prevention agents in housing estates, atmosphere agents in public transport, citizenship agents in social housing offices, grouped together today under the name of Agents Locaux de Médiation Sociale). In 1995, he founded the Association pour la Promotion des Métiers de la Ville (PROMÉVIL), tasked with disseminating these new intervention models and setting up training programs. - From 1995 to 2015, he was director of the Valdocco association, which runs educational programs throughout France for children and teenagers living in disadvantaged neighborhoods. He was appointed by Mr. Borloo, Minister of Social Cohesion in the Villepin government, as a member of the evaluation and monitoring committee of the Agence Nationale pour la Rénovation Urbaine, a member of the Conseil National des Villes and a member of the Board of Directors of the Agence Nationale pour la Cohésion Sociale et l ? Egalité des Chances. - From June 2007 to February 2009, he was appointed to the cabinet of Mme Boutin, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, as project manager for the coordination of local players. - In September 2016, he became coordinator of the Don Bosco Action Sociale network. - Free admission.
