A vast 17th century building, the Abbey of Saint-Paul de Verdun was once occupied by the Premonstratensian order. The one that now houses the courthouse of Verdun and the sub-prefecture is considered one of the first religious foundations of Verdun.
Originally a Benedictine abbey founded in the second half of the 10th century, Saint-Paul Abbey was completely destroyed in the 16th century. It was subsequently refounded in the city walls and then destroyed again at the end of the 18th century. The whole benefits from an inscription in the Historical Monuments.
