Chemaudin et Vaux is a commune in the Doubs, in Burgundy, Franche-Comte, 10 km southwest of Besancon.
It was formally established on 1 January 2017 following the merger of Chemaudin, headquarters (1500 inhabitants) and Vaux-les-Prés (370 inhabitants).
Its territory of 12 square kilometers remained rural appearance but the proximity of Besancon agglomeration results in the passage of the A36 motorway which still forms the boundary between two ancient villages and the creation of an industrial zone which houses a dozen companies.
Moreover, a decline in time, demographics found thus also a certain dynamism.
The two villages have managed to preserve a landscape character and quality heritage. With the green fields around them, dedicated to agriculture (grain production, cattle breeding) or wooded south (but vineyards have instead gone), it makes a step Chemaudin et Vaux interest before or after a fast of Besancon.
The ancient village of Chemaudin by which passed under the ancient Roman road linking Besançon Dole has retained an interesting heritage, particularly consisting of dwellings or farms Comtois traditional eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Listed on the Inventory, the St. Alban church dates from 1737 and features classic architecture but beautifully carved. Its bell tower is a singularity in the region, and is topped with a cross and a cock fixed on a pedestal. Recently restored, the church houses an altarpiece dated 1750, the work of Nicolas Nicole, and three paintings of Guillot.
Also in this village, a fountain in the main street is topped by a Marianne (late nineteenth).
As for the village of Vaux, where only remains of an ancient castle of the sixteenth century that some buildings for agricultural use within a private estate, the church dedicated to Saint Ferreol and St Ferjeux dates from the fifteenth century, built on a hillside, and its facade was rebuilt in 1735. It comprises a crypt were buried ancient nobles and priests of the parish. The church houses several notable works: a painting from 1817 and polychrome wooden statues representing its patron saints, representative of the school and signed Grandfather of Adrien Richard (1662-1748). Other statues in gilded wood and gate separating the wrought iron choir nave are also observed.
Finally, on the road to Villers-Buzon, a fountain-washhouse nineteenth century has been preserved and enhanced.
