Varaignes is at the crossroads of three departments. This town in the north of the Green Perigord, Charente key west and north, Haute -Vienne.
Memories of the Middle Ages are many Varaignes. The castle (XIV in the early 17th century) and the church gathered once by an underground passage. Recipes (now restaurant) was the place where people brought in kind tax they owed the lord.

Frequently Asked Turkeys of Saint Martin ( 11 November ) since at least the time of Henry the fourth and Sully. This is the only fair which is constantly maintained over the centuries. Turkey flocks come to the fairgrounds in procession as they once were able to walk with the farmers. That day, in the marquee and restaurants Varaignes is served turkey.
Many turkey farmers have settled in and around Varaignes.
