The Church of Our Lady of Nazareth is located Valréas in the Vaucluse, 15 km west of Nyons, in "the enclave of the popes": a territory of four municipalities constituting a de facto enclave Vaucluse in the Drôme department.
The church was built following the implementation of a Benedictine priory in the eleventh century and has undergone several phases of construction. The nave, transept and apse date from the twelfth century and fall within the Romanesque style. The collateral were added to the end of that twelfth century. Later, in the fifteenth century, an additional section of the nave was built and then, subsequently, the side chapels were added.
Historical Monument in 1862, built in noble materials (limestone), the building has the dual specificity also be covered by stone slabs and spiers have two: one is octagonal and drilled including berries lancet, the other is belfry bell-like with three bays.
Architecturally yet, there corbels carved ledges overlooking the apse and transept and the beautiful decor of the portal "south", where Gothic elements side with Romanesque ornamentation (reliefs displaying characters and interlacing). As for the side chapels added the fifteenth to the nineteenth century pierced gothic windows, they are supported by powerful buttresses.
Inside, the church houses an organ with buffet Italian 1506, which benefited from several restorations. The church is finally known for its typical Provence crèche (including figurines dating back more than a century), carefully decorated Christmas installed at Candlemas.
