Le Manoir du Petit-Béru is located in the town of Vallon-sur-Gée, in the Sarthe, 20 km west of Le Mans.
It was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century by the lord of the place, Pierre de Champagne, on the foundations of a fortified house that the English had ruined during the Hundred Years War.
From the original enclosure remain a wall framed by turrets in the shape of pepper shakers. The house itself covered with a slate roof has a staircase turret on the facade, overlooking the courtyard (where the commons are located), two turrets being contiguous on the rear facade.
A garden has been preserved on the west side, forming a terrace overlooking a pond (formerly of a larger size).
This fine example of Renaissance architecture is listed in the Inventory for the roofs and facades but also for the staircase and interior fireplaces.
The property is always private and moreover well maintained. It can punctuate a walk in this village of character in the heart of Champagne Le Mans.
