Situated in the Southern Alps, at the foot of Allos pass in Mercantour National Park, the Allos valley is home to the picturesque village of Allos as well as two ski resorts that have been awarded the "Ski France" and "Famille Plus" labels: Seignus (Val d'Allos 1500) and La Foux d'Allos (Val d'Allos 1800). These two ski resorts form part of the Espace Lumière, a vast ski area linked to the resort of Pra-Loup that offers skiers and snowboarders 230 kilometres of downhill runs! The Allos valley also has a range of other winter activities available, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating.

The area is also popular for outdoor activities in the summer, when hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, horse riding, tennis and fishing take over. Lovers of alpine scenery absolutely must make the one-hour uphill walk to the wonderful Allos lake, Europe's largest natural high-altitude lake, situated at 2,228 metres above sea level.

Allos valley

Alpes-de-Haute-Provence ski resort, Val d'Allos takes place on the commune of Allos, in the massifs of Pelat and Trois-Evêchés. It is located at the gateway to the Mercantour National Park, in the Southern Alps.

Established in the early 1930s, the station of Val d'Allos took place in a former farming village. Blocked in its exploitation with the arrival of the Second World War, it resumed its activity in the years 1950 with much success. Today, the ski area is connected to Pra Loup, another winter sports resort in the region, and offers a wide range of entertainment.

In the village, lovers of tradition and history will also find their happiness with the presence of an interesting architectural heritage, especially religious.

Things to see and do

The municipality of Allos has two ski resorts. The first is the resort of Val d'Allos-Le Seignus, a village resort located between 1,500 and 2,500 meters above sea level. The second is Val d'Allos-La Foux, a mountain resort further from the village and installed between 1,800 and 2,600 meters above sea level. The entire ski area comprises no less than 180 kilometers of slopes of all levels, all over 800 meters of uneven. Very family-friendly, the resort offers a large number of leisure activities such as a snow garden, a toy library, discos, an ice rink, a toboggan run, or pubs. There are also two cross-country skiing areas nearby.

Do not miss the lake of Allos, the largest natural lake in Europe, at 2,228 meters above sea level. A jewel of the municipality, it offers hiking trails marked for pedestrians and cyclists. It is also possible to discover the fauna and flora on other natural sites such as the Bois des Seignus, Mount Pelat, the Col de la Petite Cayolle or La Roche Grande.

In the village, it is possible to visit the chapel of San Sebastián and the Church of Our Lady of Valvert, buildings showing the traditional alpine architecture.
