100 million years told by the stone of Vachères through three themes: paleontology, flint cutting, and traces of human occupation carved in stone.
Stone memory - Human memory: The remarkable local fossils (plants, insects, birds, mammals) retrace the long history of the landscape and the environment. As for the flint of the valley, the prehistoric people used it for millennia, and even exported it in the Neolithic. Closer to home, the men made the best use of all the local resources (limestone, clay, etc.). Two rooms present the memory of stones (fossils) and the memory of men (archaeological remains).
