Located in the commune of Uzès, in the Gard, Saint-Théodorit Cathedral dates from the end of the 11th century. Listed as a Historical Monument for its bell tower and Fenestrelle tower, it was until the French Revolution the seat of the former diocese of Uzès.
Initially built in a Romanesque style, the cathedral Saint-Théodorit was rebuilt in the late twelfth century following the Albigensian crusade, then in the second half of the sixteenth century. At the beginning of the seventeenth century, it suffered a total destruction with the arrival of the wars of religion.
Rebuilt in the middle of the 17th century, it was veneered with a neo-Romanesque façade in the 19th century. Its Fenestrelle tower, forty-two meters high, has retained its Romanesque style. Strongly restored, it is reminiscent of the Italian campaniles Lombard style.
