Ungersheim of the country has probably been inhabited since Roman times. The first mention of Ungersheim appears in a document dated 735 by which the Count Eberhard donated to the abbey of Murbach of land located Anngesvilla, the first name of the village.
Ungersheim became property of the Habsburgs, probably around 1130, when they were appointed Landgraves and settled in Mulhouse. Ungersheim nobles were the vassals of Habsburg until 1534, when the nobles of Bollwiller acquired two thirds of the village.
