The legend suggests that John IV, Duke of Brittany, was the founder, "in commemoration of his victory over his opponent Auray Charles de Blois." Others say it was the monks who made Bégard build. Also known as Our Lady of Kergonan the name of the valley where it was built, it was rebuilt mostly in 1670 and 1687 and has had some repairs in 1827. You can admire inside a beautiful altar altarpiece topped with twisted columns, containing the Blessed Virgin of a seascape. Two statues around the altar, Saint Joseph and the Blessed Virgin, Our Lady of Good News, around which many ex-votos show great devotion sailors show him again.
