Located in the heart of Toulouse, the municipal library and study heritage or Périgord library was inaugurated in mid-1930 in a building designed by the architect of the city at the time, Jean Montariol.
It covers nearly 9,000 square meters, and is one of the largest libraries conducted in France in the inter-war. Renovated in the 2000s, its mission is to preserve, enrich and enhance the written heritage and to welcome the historical collections of the city. Mainly used by researchers and students in the area, it has a study room with books 250 000 1900 to the present day and more than 6,000 newspapers, a heritage room with a fund of old and rare books and finally a room with region a regional fund exceptional revealing more than 60,000 books, newspapers or magazines.
