Cathedral Notre-Dame-de-la-Seds

Monument in Toulon

Located in the heart of the medieval district of Toulon, in the Var, the Notre-Dame-de-la-Seds cathedral recently celebrated its 900 years. If there are no visible traces of the first building from the 5th century, visitors are still seduced by the current 11th century building.

Many times altered, the Notre-Dame-de-la-Seds cathedral unveils elements of its successive modifications, with a funerary stone from the 12th century, a southern facade with four columns in the Second Baroque Provencal style of the 17th century or even a 36 m square bell tower with a Provencal wrought iron bell tower.

Listed as a Historic Monument, the site also has a very beautiful interior interior, notably with a marble and stucco altarpiece depicting God the Father, as well as paintings by Pierre Puget and 19th century woodwork.
