The togeardes: these big matches were used to light the fire in the fireplace without burning, until the little wood wants to take. They also served to light the pipe, but for the light it was a source of fire or heat. They were mostly made of aspen wood (wood moon). Why? Because the wood was pilfered the night in the forests, so a cheap raw material.
