Fillière

• Thorens Castle: Let you drive through a thousand years of history. Built in 1060, the family of Sales, then Roussy de Sales, lives in the castle since 1598. It was the home of Saint Francis de Sales (1567-1622). The castle of the Sales, which did justice to the Duke of Savoy, was located within a range of arrows of the castle of Thorens, it was destroyed by order of Richelieu because Louis de Sales, brother of Saint Francis, governor of Annecy, had dared resist, during 3 days, to the troops of Louis XIII. Eugene de Roussy de Sales liked to invite his cousin but also the Piedmontese Prime Minister Camille de Cavour (1810-1861). This building preserves objects and works of art which belonged to these two great personages of the history of Savoy, whose office of Cavour on which was signed in Turin, the act of annexation, by will; Camille de Cavour, having no children, donated to Roussy de Sales' family her office and room which were installed at the chateau at her death.
• Plateau des Glières: This plateau was a hotbed of resistance during the Second World War, we can remember this period thanks to the national monument of the resistance of Gilioli, inaugurated on September 3, 1973 and thanks to marked walking routes.
• The Montpiton resort: Located at 1067 m altitude, this small resort allows you to get started skiing thanks to the ski lift, on two tracks through the fir trees.
• The territory is conducive to many natural activities. Whether in summer or winter, come breathe fresh air and practice various activities such as mountain biking, hiking in summer; and in winter Nordic skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding and other snow-related activities.
• The village has a fish farm, a playground...

• The Parmelan offers many walks and hikes. From the summit (1832 m), you can admire Lake Annecy. Lappiaz, protected by the limestone cliff, form a lunar-like soil.
• The church of Aviernoz is typically Savoyard, created in 1896, it holds among its peculiarities a baptistery in solid chestnut, a crucifix in polychrome wood and an altarpiece both restored in gold leaf.

• In March (the 3rd Sunday): The Marathon des Glières: in a sporting, festive and friendly atmosphere, this event brings together around 1200 runners from all over France and even from abroad.
• In July :

• Glières Celebrates Freedom.
• Feast on foot, horseback, mountain bike.
• Sounds and Lights show at Thorens Castle.

• In July and August: Guided visits to the Salesian sites (Saint-François-de-Sales) organized by the Tourist Office of the Pays de Fillière.
• In August: Vogue in Thorens, parade in the village, rides and many other activities.
• Beginning of October: Descent of the pastures. Trail of Glières.
• Beginning of November: Feast of Apple and Squash: local market, competition of the biggest squash and animations organized by various associations of the region.

• Aviernoz organizes every year a vogue (village festival) in September.
• Many animations are organized.

Many nature activities in the Pays de Fillière: summer walks and themed walks, climbing, mountain biking, horseback riding, canoeing, winter, snowshoeing and skiing.
