Tharon-Plage is one of the most important resorts on the coast of Jade in Loire-Atlantique. Labeled Blue Flag for its water quality and its activities, it is next to the seaside resort of Cormier and the city of La Plaine-sur-Mer.

Founded in the late nineteenth century with the installation of cabins on the beach, it has boomed in the early twentieth century with the arrival of the train. Even today, its tourist attraction is certain, with its many and varied activities, entertainment and its splendid nature. Its beautiful scenery and its beaches offer indeed many opportunities for visiting tourists. The resort also owes its fame to a small biscuit known to all, the famous St Michel galette which still treats sweets lovers.

Rich in history and heritage, Tharon-Plage and 4.5 kilometers of sandy beach remains one of the most beautiful places in the Loire-Atlantique.

Things to see and do

If it is not very large, the resort does not have one Tharon-Plage least some beautiful sites and monuments to discover the liking of sunny walks.

The pretty little chapel Sainte-Anne can admire objects straight from Abbey Buzay, now destroyed. It is possible to discover including the oldest crucifix Retz, dating from the fourteenth century.

The church of St. Michael, rebuilt in the Gothic style in the late nineteenth century, reveals to visitors capitals with marine motifs.

Charming ruins Castle Tharon still offers to visitors a tower which recalls the importance of the city once.

Tharon-Plage charm lies mainly in its many mansions recalling the importance of the tourist resort in the nineteenth century. During long walks by the sea, it is still possible to enjoy the charm of seaside Folies, and the various villas still present today.

Roy Wood, which stretches along the sea, makes beautiful family walks, thanks to the presence of picnic areas and playgrounds equipped for children.

Dominated by shale cliffs and surrounded by dunes, beaches of St. Michael the Redois and Tharon are the scene of many water activities or relaxation. Surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing... the possibilities are wide and thus allow to enjoy the benefits of the nearby Atlantic Ocean.

The St. Michael plant opens its doors to curious how are designed patties that have brought fame to the city. Video and sale are offered as well.

Whatever the season, Tharon-Plage beach resort offers various activities to give life to its waterfront.

A market takes place on Wednesday and Saturday out of season, and Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings from late June to late August. Added to this is a nice craft market from early July to late August, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. This is an opportunity to enjoy local crafts and enjoy various events.

Every year from July to early August, the Recto / Verso festival on the graphic image, allows fans to submit their best works.

During September, the station was the scene of the Route of the fisheries. For two days, the plaice fisheries in the country open to the public, including that of Tharon-range.

The trail of the Côte de Jade is held every year in early October, including through the Tharon-Plage station. Different strokes are possible, 24, 14 or 10 kilometers.
