Municipality bordering Germany, Stiring-Wendel takes place in the Grand Est region, in the Moselle department. It is located in the Forbach agglomeration, not far from Spicheren and Shoeneck, in the heart of the Warndt natural region.
Built in the mid-19th century by decree of Napoleon III, Stiring-Wendel was formerly part of Forbach County. Former industrial city created by Charles de Wendel, which has left its name, it passes under German control after the War of 1870 before returning to France in the twentieth century.
Always appreciated today, the city of Stiring-Wendel remains a high place of tourism in the region because of its historical and architectural heritage of great interest. Its proximity to its German neighbors also makes it a privileged holiday destination to discover the neighboring country.
