Notre-Dame-de-la-Fin-des-Terres is a Benedictine abbey which was built in the 11th century, it is a Romanesque architecture. In the eighteenth century, dune erosion caused the quasi-total silting up of the church, which was cleared in the middle of the 19th century. At the beginning of the 12th century, the construction of the church of Soulac began, near the oratory built in the 6th century by the archbishop of Bordeaux, Léonce. The works of desensiveness and restoration of Notre-Dame-de-la-Fin-des-Terres were decided in September 1858 and began in 1859. In 1622, the ravages of the parapets destroyed the basilica and the site. A few centuries later, the sand accumulated and then climbed the ground level by 3 m to reconvert a window into a door and the ground floor into a crypt.
