Solaro

You will discover in the village the ruins of the church of San Giovanni built in the 10th century. Not far away, the Torra di Sarracini is a square tower built in the sixteenth century. At the time, it was intended to monitor suspicious maritime arrivals.

Dating at least from the sixteenth century, the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste presents a classic and sober architecture.

Near the Navy of Solaro, on the beach, you can admire a stele erected in the early 1990s to pay tribute to the Resistance Corsicans of the Second World War. It also testifies to the landings that took place here in 1943 and participated in the liberation of the Island of Beauty.

Familiar, the beach of Solaro is the opportunity to bask in the sun, to practice swimming or other water sports.

Walks are possible around the village to discover the mountain or the coast. Several passes are accessible, such as the passes of Catterie, Asinao, Pre d'Agnello or Solta. You can also discover the charms of the forest of Tova. Guides also offer introductory courses in canyoning.

Every year in August, Solaro celebrates Saint Augustine with a procession, a mass and various festive animations.
