Occupied since the Gallo-Roman period with an oppidum, the territory of Sauve develops mainly in the medieval period of which it has retained many vestiges. Protestant Bastion during the wars of religion in the sixteenth century, the town now labeled City and Crafts remains known for its haricot fork, as well as for its cherries.
