Bas-Rhin commune of nearly 3,000 inhabitants, in the Grand Est region, Sarre-Union takes place eighty kilometers from Strasbourg and its cathedral, in the heart of hunchbacked Alsace. It is located not far from Rimsdorf, Lorentzen or Altwiller.
Resulting from the merger of Bouquenom and Neuf-Sarrewerden at the end of the 18th century, Sarre-Union has experienced human occupation since Gallo-Roman times as evidenced by the remains of pottery found on site. Important industrial town in the 19th century, it then joined the German Empire before returning to France at the end of the First World War.
Still as dynamic as ever, this Alsatian town continues to attract visitors today thanks to its authentic charm and its traditional architecture which is not lacking in interest.
