The town is in two parts: the largest village and hamlet "crows" which is crossed by the river Ourcq. During the French wars of England, British troops have seized the village and its castle. The church was built in the 12th century, along with the castle which was contiguous. It was badly damaged by the Second Battle of the Marne in 1918. Restored in 1930-1934, it is now classified as Historical Monument. The castle, the remains are included in the inventory of Historic Monuments.
