A former 16th century manor, the Château de Chassay now houses the town hall of Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire, in Loire-Atlantique. In Italian Renaissance style, it was erected on the remains of a much older building that dates back to the 6th century.
Fortified in the 15th century, it then took on the appearance we know today with a square body surrounded by square corbelled turrets. Two symmetrical wings have framed it since the 17th century. Having become a breeding and artificial insemination center in the 19th century, it saw its outbuildings razed in the middle of the 20th century to accommodate three new pavilions for the municipal police and the CCAS.
An extension was made in the 1980s to the Château de Chassay due to the city's demographic growth.
