Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon

There is no shortage of tourist sites in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon which presents its visitors with a journey through time.

Crossing the entire town of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, the Gier aqueduct is more than four kilometers long. With its 72 arches, it testifies to the importance of the city in the Gallo-Roman era. One can in particular discover a siphon bridge, intended to bring up the water from the foot of the hill.

Built at the start of the 20th century, the Saint-Irénée seminary trained the region's priests for a long time. The latter even hosted Pope John Paul II during his stay in Lyon in 1986.

A vestige of Claude Chappe's network, the Telegraph tower dates from the end of the 18th century. It is one of the few towers still in good condition on the Paris-Lyon-Toulon network.

The Château de la Bachasse, a private residence dating from the 19th century, faces the Yzeron, on a hillside. You can still admire a main building made up of square pavilions at its four corners, as well as a very beautiful partly wooded park. It is now available to railway workers and their families through SNCF associations.

Exotic and original, Thien Minh Pagoda brings an Asian touch to the architectural heritage of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon.

Four weekly fairground markets are held on Tuesday (Provinces), Wednesday (Centre), Friday (Gravière) and Saturday (Provinces).

Each year, the city of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon strives to offer quality entertainment to its visitors and residents.

In March, a major festival dedicated to comic strips is organized at the Senghor municipal library: Sainte-Foy les Bulles.

Since the beginning of the 1990s, the city has offered a biennial devoted to African cinema and culture, the African Cinema Caravan. It is usually held in April.

On May 8, place at Nature en fête, a flower market. During this day, associative stands, workshops for children or sports activities are also offered.

Mid-October, the Trail de l'Aqueduc allows several hundred athletes from all over the region to compete against courses of 11, 22 and 42 km.
