Additional information
Sainte-Anne

The town of Sainte-Anne is located in the right wing of the "butterfly" Grande Terre, on the south coast, between land and sea, midway between two other major seaside towns, such as Le Gosier and St. Francis, and not Nearby Mold.

Sainte-Anne, like all cities in Guadeloupe, is composed of a main town, surrounded by several hamlets and localities.

Sainte-Anne owes its name to Anne of Austria, mother of Louis XIV, which was founded at a time when she had a prominent place as a port for shipment of rum and sugar. What remains today: the Gardel sugar and distillery Damoiseau to be missed!

Sainte-Anne reached by the N4, you reported the Club Med on the right. Further, the cemetery will not give you a vague glimpse of one of Morne-a-Eau. And later still, the statue of Neg Mawon erected in tribute to those slaves who refused their condition and escaped. Chased by their masters, they were often mutilated. This is to never forget that, despite the sea sparkling in hand, the weight of this sad history is always present ...

Sainte-Anne, facing the sea, is home to many fishermen and small fishing port "The Galbas" you can provide, upon arrival, fresh fish.

Sainte-Anne, facing the ground, practice the culture of sugar cane and food crops and vegetables. You can also cater to the Valletta market on Thursday evening from 17h in the parking lot of the stadium where producers sell their products directly.

The many restaurants offer their specialties: the conch (shell) prepared steak, grilled meat and fish specialties, lobster, crayfish (crawfish) ...

With children, prefer the beach instead of Bois Jolan (output Sainte-Anne, route de Saint-François, at the roundabout of "Ffrench," we take the right and we made 2 km): the water is very shallow .

Or, as Sainte-Anne like a gigantic swimming pool with calm waters thanks to the coral reef.

There, in front of it, the beach at Club Med La Caravelle ", lined with coconut palms and very popular for water sports.

Visits, leisure and activities nearby

You will always be able to combine a cultural and a swimming party. In the nearby Moule, the Archaeological Museum Edgar Clerc will take you back in time to discover the first peoples who succeeded one another in Guadeloupe: the Arawaks, the Caribbean Indians: their habitat, their burial, their environment.

Leaving from here, you will have the choice between many possibilities: visit the Distillery Damoiseau with its mill, visit the Gardel candy or bathe. You can return to Sainte-Anne by the Basin cannier and its peaceful landscapes.

If you are interested in the customs and the life of yesteryear in Guadeloupe, do not hesitate to make ten kilometers to Périnette, Gosier (coming from Sainte-Anne, take on the left, direction "Gosier center"). Before your eyes, a kaleidoscope of the different modes of clothing according to the epochs and the peoples.

If you are not in a hurry for swimming, you can still visit the Fort Fleur d'Epée (direction Pointe-à-Pitre, exit at Bas du Fort) or visit the Aquarium de la Guadeloupe Antilles - the 4th of France) direction Pointe-à-Pitre. You will have well deserved a good swimming and you will have only the embarrassment of the choice among the many beaches of Gosier:

L'Ilet du Gosier, accessible thanks to the shuttles of the fishermen, from Anse Tabarin near the Park. Unforgettable place!

The beach of St Félix (cove Dumant), at the exit of Gosier, road of Sainte-Anne: it is modest, not too invaded; You can go for a long walk nearby. Do not forget, when leaving, to make a stop at the bakery to taste its reputed bread!

The beach of Petit Havre, a little further, where the fishermen arrive.

Another day, the visit of Saint-François with its golf, its beach of the Raisins Clairs and the point of the Castles.

Another picturesque outing: the atypical landscapes of the Grands Fonds: mysterious landscapes alternating hills and gullies. You will be able, through them, to reach Morne-à-l'Eau where the cemetery will not fail to astonish you...

But this list is not exhaustive because from Sainte-Anne you can easily organize visits to the North Grande Terre where the coast is very beautiful with many very picturesque views. The beach of Port Louis is very nice too...
