Saint-Yorre is a town in the Allier region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, 8 km south of Vichy and neighboring of Puy-de-Dome in the west.
Stretching on the right bank of the Allier, bordered by wooded areas and forms its boundary to the west, the area of 6.3 km² is also crossed by streams of Andraux and Cutthroat.
A first priory is implanted at the site of Saint-Yorre the eighth century and then a second, occupied by Benedictine monks, was destroyed by floods in 1739.
The village is only a modest parish dependent on the lordship of Busset under the old regime, the activity being dedicated in particular to winemaking.
It is from 1853 that the fate of the toggle joint, when Nicolas Larbaud, father of the writer, discovers the taste and properties of mineral water from dozens of sources on the resort, and starts market. These infiltrated water from the Chaîne des Puys and Limagne Great Rift, migrate into the depths and load of carbon dioxide and minerals that allow them then, thanks to their temperature and pressure, to emerge.
Distribution is ensured through the railway by 1900, ten million bottles are produced annually. In 1928 is created the Commercial Company of mineral water Vichy Basin. Then a glass factory to make bottles is located, which will close its doors in 2005, being relocated to Brazil and China.
However, water is still the wealth of the city with some 2,700 inhabitants and offers a leisure offer of interest.
Like his parish dedicated to St. Bernadette's Church in 1937 in classical style, the urbanization of the city was fairly late.
However, in the 2010s, the center was renovated: a walk on the town hall square and the market (with a new hall), with fountains and playgrounds, is thus revealed nice, as on the esplanade Eugène-Rouchon.

There remains to enjoy the significant potential of Saint-Yorre to hikers, knowing that the manned or economic areas occupy a third of the 635 hectares of communal land.
Fitted for summer 2020 the greenway connecting Saint-Yorre Billy, north, along the banks of the Allier at 27 km. Either a secure path 3 meters wide which reveals ideal for walkers or mountain bikers wanting to enjoy lush landscapes dotted urban attractions, such Vichy.
On the same town Saint-Yorre the circuit marked out in yellow Rouge-Gorge can address the area between different areas of the city, villages, farms and streams and forests. 13 km long, this loop also accessible to mountain bikers, with magnificent views of the chain of volcanic hills or mountain Bourbonnais.
