Towering over the little village of Saint-Sulpice-de-Favières, the Church of St. Sulpice was built in the 13th and 14th centuries, at the request of St. Louis, to welcome the many pilgrims who came to venerate the relics of St. Sulpice. The latter, chaplain to King Clotaire II and the Bishop of Bourges in the 17th century, is said to have resuscitated a drowned child at this spot.
Known as the most beautiful village church in France, the Church of St. Sulpice has the look of a cathedral and is a masterpiece of the radiant gothic style. Once you have stepped through its sculpted door, you can admire a light-filled nave, beautiful 13th-century stained glass windows and a 12th-century Chapel of Miracles containing the reliquary bust of St. Sulpice.
