The name of the village comes from the 5th century martyr, Severus. The field of Barbeaux belongs in the 17th century to the Aubert family, whose origins date back to the feudal era likely in Normandy. StringBEL gentleman, heir to the family Peyrelongue was the owner of the house overlooking the village. The house was probably built at the initiative of P. Geres. One calling himself "lord of Saint-Sève" at the end of the 18th century, is a member of the Gironde in 1824. His father, Pierre de Geres of Louppes was esquire, lord of Camarsac captain and counselor of the parliament. He lived in the castle near Loubens Saint-Sève.
