Tip of the Semaphore of Saint-Quay-Portrieux: It is the most beautiful panorama of Saint-Quay-Portrieux, discover the ultra powerful binoculars, the Spationav system, the radars, the goniometer... and observe the sea from Bréhat to Fréhel...
To protect the coasts from any invasion, the coastline was, from the Roman period, marked with posts or watchtowers. Maintained for many centuries, most were suppressed after the Napoleonic wars. The Semaphore of Saint-Quay-Portrieux was built in 1860 on a promontory overlooking both the city and the sea of 100 meters. During the Second World War, it was occupied by German troops, then became the naval office until 1958 and until 1979 returned to its role as sentinel of the sea.
The present building was inaugurated on January 13, 1986.
