Small village of Occitanie, Saint-Privat takes place in the department of Hérault, 350 meters above sea level. Adjoining the foothills of the plateau of Larzac, the commune actually consists of three villages, Saint-Privat, Salces and Rouquette. It is located not far from the town of Lodève.
Formerly called Maro in the French Revolution, the village of Saint-Privat underwent significant economic development at the end of the 19th century, with the exploitation of its subsoil. Rich in sandstone, it has allowed the manufacture of many grinding wheels to grind tools or to polish marble. The town is also famous for its olive and vineyard cultivation which offers wines appreciated in the region.
Today, Saint-Privat is mainly focused on tourism, offering to discover a charming architectural heritage, but also natural.
