Things to see and do

The ribs are characteristic of Saint-Philippe Wild South: green vegetation and steep volcanic shore coastal shaped by the incessant waves sweep.

Saint-Philippe, Destination "Scent of basalt, offers exceptional sites related to history: The Well of English has relics dating from the 19th century. Designed and built stone carved between 1813 and 1822, this well has probably been dug to collect water running down the gentle slopes of the volcano. The inhabitants were drawing water, there was not so long ago, before the arrival of running water. On this site, a pool of sea water and a large garden are conducive to relaxation and picnics.

The Arab wells, dug into the lava completely without any trace of masonry, which was the subject of many legends as to the date of its construction, deserves attention to soak up the history of this place.

Natural sites revealing the charms of South Sauvage propose to you: the tip of Lower Valley, commonly called Cape Naughty, you can admire a view on this wild coast in a good picnic.

You will have the opportunity to discover the fauna and flora of the Meeting with the botanical trail Forest Mare Longue.

You can also visit a special garden of three acres in the heart of the forest of Mare-Longue, the discovery of perfumes, spices and the incredible richness of the natural heritage of South Grand Reunion, sprouted on an old volcanic flow 800 years in the Garden of Perfumes and Spices.

Come and meet fans Reunion: in a pleasant old house built around 1850 Creole, where you relive the history and the past Saint-Philippe Meeting of the Eco-Museum In Good King Louis. But also in respect of tradition and know-how, with artisans who will share a convivial round of vacoas weaving through introductory workshop.

Day Vacoas and Palmiste, in August, is an opportunity to sample local cuisine made from palm and Diced which is the main source of food cooked Saint-Philippe.
