Name of inhabitants: Audonien or Avoisiens.
History:
The site Mimbre, which was the original castle has very ancient origins. Traces of Gallo-Roman occupation have been updated in a similar plot. As to the construction site, it had to be firm in the 11th century to establish a position of defense. The round tower which serves as the church bell was also originally a watchtower and was therefore a genuine military purpose.
From the 16th century, industry flax and hemp grows on the town, 160 weavers are also identified. The industrial past has left some traces in the landscape of the town as many houses of weavers.
