Saint-Maurice-de-Gourdans takes place in the heart of Ain, about fifty kilometers from Bourg-en-Bresse. The small town is located at the edge of the Isère department, not far from Saint-Jean-de-Niost, Charnoz-sur-Ain and Meximieux.
The history of Saint-Maurice-de-Gourdans dates back to the year 1000 and the creation of a Benedictine priory depending on the Ainay abbey in Lyon. Thriving throughout the Middle Ages thanks in particular to the fame of its autumn fair, the town also experienced its peak with the cultivation of the silkworm and the textile factories of the Lyon region.
Rich in its glorious past, Saint-Maurice-de-Gourdans continues to shine in the region thanks to its unique setting conducive to rest, in particular with its banks at the confluence of the Rhône and the Ain rivers.
