Bordered to the north by the municipality of Saint-Martin-du-Puy and to the south by that of Brassy, Lake Chaumeçon was born from the construction of a dam on the course of Chalaux, renowned for its flow and its impetuosity in an exceptional natural setting.
Vast 135 hectares, in the heart of the Morvan massif, 30 km south of Avallon, the lake is suitable for hiking (a course on the banks will be dotted with wooded parts and ponds) and of course various nautical activities in addition to swimming such as paddleboarding and kayaking (rentals offered at the Raft'Morvan base). The daily water releases in summer 2021 will allow you to go rafting and canoe-rafting with an ideal water level! It is also possible to be accompanied every weekend in September and October depending on the destocking of Lake Chaumeçon.
Paradise for fishermen, the lake can be the setting for pleasant boat or canoe trips. As for the rivers near Chalaux and Cure, they are popular with canoeing enthusiasts as well as rafting. Qualified instructors accompany neophytes as well as more seasoned practitioners in these whitewater sports. Information on +33 6 95 63 59 89.
