Oiron:
Village of nearly 1,000 inhabitants, Oiron is located in New Aquitaine, in the department of Deux-Sevres. At the edge of the Vienne, it takes place about ten kilometers from Thouars, on the banks of the Dive.
Oiron was born from the merger of different villages, Bilazais, Brie, Noizon and Oiron, in 1973. Brie has since regained its independence in the early 1980s. The small town is now known for its tourism, especially for its castle having inspired, according to legend, the famous Marquis de Carabas du Chat Botté.
Full of charm, the small village of Oiron seduced by its calm and its unspoiled nature. In the heart of the countryside, it allows you to relax while discovering an architectural and historical heritage of great importance.
Taizé-Maulais:
The town of Taizé was renamed Taizé-Maulais in the year 2015. It takes place in New Aquitaine, in the tourist department of Deux-Sèvres.
Populated since the megalithic period, as evidenced by some vestiges, the village of Taizé-Maulais was also an important place of residence in the Gallo-Roman era. Place of battle in the first half of the eleventh century between the Angevins and Poitevins, it is now known for its tourist appeal. On the territory of the town, there are many sites to discover, whether from the architectural or natural heritage.
Ideally located, the locality allows to appreciate the most beautiful places of the Deux-Sèvres and to spend some days of rest in the heart of a calm and pleasant nature.
Oiron:
Listed as an historic monument, Oiron Castle was built in the 16th century. Former property of the Gouffier family, one of whose members would have inspired the famous Marquis de Carabas to Charles Perrault. The latter was also at the origin of the beginning of the art collection exposed to the castle. This tradition has continued, and one can admire here a large collection of contemporary art. In the park, also open to the public, we also discover works scattered everywhere, while admiring the facade of this edifice finesse. In the left wing, do not forget to admire the large 55-meter painted gallery that traces the ancient cycle of the Trojan War and the Aeneid in fourteen scenes.
Also classified as an historic monument, the Saint-Maurice collegiate church dates from the 16th and 17th centuries. Located near the castle, it houses many works, including funerary slabs classified as Historical Monuments as objects.
The church Saint-Martin-les-Baillargeaux takes place in the former village of Noizé. Built between the tenth and eleventh century, it has also been classified as an historic monument. Isolated, in the middle of the fields, it owes its unusual position to an epidemic of black plague having decimated all the surrounding inhabitants. The old town also has a 19th century village church and a dolmen, the Stone Pineau, listed historical monument.
In the old village of Bilazais, you can admire the church Sainte-Radegonde and its choir of the twelfth century.
The Oiron Park is very popular for walks as well as for its interesting flora.
Taizé-Maulais:
Former, the village of Taizé-Maulais hosts on its territory the most important megalithic site of all the Deux-Sèvres. You can admire a tumulus and several dolmens, including that of the place called La Pierre levée, listed historical monument.
Several churches also take place in the different villages that form Taizé-Maulais, like that of Notre-Dame in Taizé, that of Saint-Pierre in Maulais, or the chapel of Maranzais. All quite old, they reveal a typical architecture of this part of New Aquitaine.
Walking through the ancient villages of the different villages of Taizé-Maulais, you can enjoy an old noble house, or the seat of the battle between Angevins and Poitevins in 1033, on the hill of Montcoué. Three crosses were erected to testify to this historic event.
Taizé-Maulais is crossed, on the banks of Thouet, by a part of the GR36 hiking trail.
Oiron:
In June, the town offers a garage sale. A Christmas market with entertainment takes place at the end of the year.
In early June, Oiron Castle offers 1000 and a Scenes, a free event to promote amateur arts in the region. The program includes dance, theater and concerts.
FanfOiron takes place in October at Oiron Castle. These are fanfares from around the world.
Saint-Jouin-de-Marnes:
The holiday of relics the second weekend of September, consisting of a lottery on Saturday evening, a flea market on Sunday, and rides all weekend.
Taizé-Maulais:
In August, a pedal car race enlivens the streets of Taizé-Maulais. It takes place in the context of the village festival.

- The baroque ensemble Les Surprises is organizing a weekend of artistic practice for women from migrant families. Supported by the city of Poitiers and the Vienne prefecture, the program focuses on the theme of queens over the centuries. The public is invited to take part in this moment of artistic sharing based on the work carried out over the weekend at the château. The program includes music, readings and strolls.

The synergy between yoga, trees and nature becomes a source of well-being and spirituality. SyloYoga is a therapeutic and preventive approach to reducing stress levels and improving quality of life, with a beneficial effect on health and well-being. The session will end with a time of relaxation in one of the exhibition rooms. - Participants are welcome to bring a plaid. - Age 16 and over
Paysage Conté au Château d'Oiron

- The Canton Conté association is launching a series of projects on trees, hedgerows and environmental and landscape protection. The aim is to provide cultural, informative and participatory tools to encourage citizens to rediscover their local environment. Today, they're stopping off at the Château d'Oiron to offer you 3 readings with some of the drawings from the 10 tales presented. Each of these livrarbres is rooted in the Richelais landscape. Ancient trees are the common thread running through the collection. Each story sold will enable a tree to be planted in the Richelieu district. The presentation will close with a time for signing and discussion.
Atelier Création d'un Herbier au Château d'Oiron

- The Camera Natura association is offering participants an introduction to nature photography in the Parc du Château. This workshop is the culmination of a series of photo sessions on the flora and fauna of the Château Park in 2023, which will culminate in an exhibition of selected photographs in the streets of the village of Oiron in the summer of 2024.

- Like real explorers, the children, equipped with a bag of tools to guide them (kit of 2 activities for 3/6 year-olds ; kit of 7 activities for 6/12 year-olds), will discover the history of the park, its fauna, its flora and its works of art through observation and composition activities, rubbing, modeling and gathering. Adults will also be involved, and can accompany the children with the help of a booklet containing all the relevant information. At the end of the tour, families can take away their own creations.

Journées Européennes de l'Archéologie : la Nécropole de Monpalais
