Saint-Gingolph is a village that has the distinction of being on the French-Swiss border, on the south shore of Lake Geneva. In France, it is in the department of Haute-Savoie, in the Rhône-Alpes. Formerly associated with the old Duchy of Savoy, it is composed of another Swiss side, located in the canton of Valais. Ideally located for exploring the two countries, Saint-Gingolph is near Evian-les-Bains and Montreux.
Legend Saint-Gingolph have been founded in 640 by people who survived the landslide of the mountain. Over time, the village developed through crafts and trade linked to the exploitation of wood and chestnut. It was during the nineteenth century it has become a famous tourist village, thanks to its promenade along the banks of Lake Geneva.
