The vine dominates the agricultural activity where the appellation Beaujolais produces red, rosé, white and crémant wines.
Extracted from "Oncins or Glay" quarries, the stones used for local and regional constructions give this wonderful yellow, warm and golden color which contrasts with the green of the vines and the woods.

The quarries of Glay: This former site of extraction of limestone of a beautiful golden color characteristic of the South-Beaujolais, provided all the Lyons area in building materials of XVe in the mid-twentieth century. It is the only quarry of the Rhône arranged for the visit. Of great historical and heritage value, it is also a natural area of ecological interest, fauna and flora.
At the entrance of the site, a reading table comments a vast panorama on the mountains of Beaujolais and the mountains of Tarare, the Azergues valley and the villages of Pierres Dorées.
The Glay quarries are also part of the 26 Geosites that make up the Géopark label in Beaujolais awarded by UNESCO.
A Gourmet Stroll is offered all year round by the Tourist Office of the Pays de L'Arbresle from Saint-Germain-Nuelles, to Careers Glay. The principle ? With your hiking record, go on your ride at your own pace, independently, and the desired day. Halfway, enjoy a tasty picnic made of fresh products, concocted for you by a local craftsman.
Every year in the spring or early summer is organized an event at Glay Quarries: a year the feast of the Stone and the following year the Night of the Tale, and so on.
