The church of St. George Saint-Georges-de-Commiers, in Isère, 20 km south of Grenoble, was built in the eleventh and twelfth centuries.
It was classified a historical monument in 1908. If the church seems isolated today, it was once built a castral all of which remains a tower.
Architecturally, one notices its barrel vault (which is the subject of a restoration), the apse of small size, and the decorative plane at the gate, a tent set of leaves and a head bearded man with oversized mustache.
First given to the canons of Oulx, in primitive Romanesque church that has retained its original appearance is supported by buttresses. The tower is composed of a square tower partly pierced bays. The arrow is quite high.
The building pleasantly jalonnera a walk in this village with a rich medieval past. Information at +33 4 76 72 57 19.
