The castle Saint-Geniès is located in the heart of the town of the same name, 10 km north of Sarlat, in the Black Périgord.
It was built in the 16th century by the local lord on the foundations of a previous medieval building (12th century), destroyed during the conflicts that devastated the region.
Adjoining the church of the village, presenting a shape in "u", a square tower was added to it in the 17th century and at the beginning of the 20th, a oval tower of XVIe was raised and a way of round and machicoulis recalling the medieval defensive elements have been developed.
The facades and roofs of the castle have been protected as historical monuments since 1976.
On the north facade, we notice the remains of primitive windows.
Private property, the castle has been converted into a hotel.
