Saint-Gatien-des-Bois

Town in Normandy, in the Calvados, Saint-Gatien-des-Bois was before the creation of the town of L'Oudon in 1973, the largest municipality of the department. At the heart of the Auge, the town sits near Pont-Eveque, Honfleur or Deauville.

Ideally located for exploring Normandy and the sea coast of the Channel, the common Saint-Gatien-des-Bois is also appreciated for its calm and relaxed atmosphere.

Saint-Gatien-des-Bois hosts within it the chalet Ulric Guttinguer, a French poet and novelist of the nineteenth century. Housed in the city forest, it was listed as an historic monument. This is where the writer wrote some of his works.

Also listed historical monument, the loft of the farmhouse of Herbigny not lack of interest.

The town hosts a large number of mansions testify to the richness of Saint-Gatien-des-Bois once.

Walking through the city, it is also possible to admire the Saint-Gatien church which contains some parts of the fifteenth and sixteenth century, and the church of Mont-Saint-Jean, the seventeenth century. The latter was transformed into a barn.
