Located in Haute-Garonne, in the town of the same name, the castle of Saint-Élix-le-Château is a Renaissance building listed as a Historical Monument. Today private property, it was built in the first half of the sixteenth century, between 1540 and 1548, at the request of Pierre Potier de la Terrasse. Its architecture, very original, combines elements of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
Passed from hands to hands, it was in particular the property of the Marquis de Montespan, whose wife has distinguished herself in history as the mistress of Louis XIV. Today, the main house has a brick facade and is surrounded by two round towers with two floors. Around, it is possible to admire the pleasure garden, a regular garden listed in the pre-inventory of remarkable gardens. The park, the garden, the orangery, the walls of fences, the stables, the pond and the dovecote are also listed as Historical Monuments.
